The countdown to the IPL 2025 mega auction has begun. All 10 teams have retained several players ahead of the auction. The mega auction is scheduled to be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for which 574 players have been shortlisted, including 366 Indian players and 208 foreign players. But only 204 of these players can be sold. A total of 10 teams will participate in IPL 2025 and each team can have a maximum of 25 players in its squad. In such a situation, before the auction 2025, let us know the rules related to the IPL auction.
IPL Auction Rules:
RTM (Right to Match) Card- RTM card is used in IPL auction to retain a player by matching the highest bidder for him. For example, if the highest bidder bids for KL Rahul and other teams do not bid for him, then Lucknow Super Giants can retain him by using RTM card. However, it is unlikely that KL Rahul will be bought by SRH.
Each team will have the option to use a maximum of 6 RTM cards in the IPL 2025 auction. If a franchise has retained 4 players, it will have 2 RTM cards during the mega auction.
Will the Impact Player Rule be applicable in IPL Auction 2025?
The BCCI has retained the impact player rule till 2025-27. The team can use an impact player even before the 14th over of the innings. Under this rule, a player has to go out and an impact player comes on the field in his place. The permission to replace any one player from the playing 11 is called an impact player.
