Sri Lanka Cricket Board on Wednesday announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming T20I series. A T20 series is to be played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the first T20 match of which will be played on March 4. Apart from the T20 series, a 3-match ODI series and a two-match Test series will be played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka has made Wanindu Hasaranga the captain in its squad for the T20 series to be played against Bangladesh. Everyone was surprised to see Wanindu's name, because ICC had recently banned him.
Despite being banned, Wanindu Hasaranga got a place in the T20 team
Wanindu Hasaranga is included in Sri Lanka's T20 squad against Bangladesh, but he will not play the first two matches of the tournament due to the ban imposed by the ICC. Let us tell you that ICC has banned Hasanga for two matches.
Why was Wanindu Hasaranga banned? After the end of the third T20 match of Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan, Hasaranga was seen arguing with on-field umpire Lindon Hannibal. Hasaranga became very angry with the umpire's decision to give no-ball and was seen misbehaving with the umpire. He received punishment from ICC after using abusive language. Hasaranga was given a two-match ban along with three demerit points. 50 percent match fee of the Sri Lankan captain was also deducted.
