The tenth season of the Women's Big Bash League will begin on 27 October with Adelaide Strikers Women vs Brisbane Heat Women at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.
Women's Big Bash League The 2024 Women's Big Bash League season will see eight teams participating, as is customary. These teams are Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Thunder, Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers.
The group stage will run from October 27 to December 1, with 43 matches being played.
History of the Women Big Bash League (WBBL)
Cricket Australia launched the Women's Big Bash League in 2015-16, inspired by the success of the men's Big Bash League. With eight city-based franchises, the WBBL was all set to take women's T20 cricket to another level. Sydney Thunder won the title in the first season. Since then, the league has grown rapidly, signing top international players and becoming one of the most watched leagues in women's T20 cricket worldwide.
Women Big Bash League 2024 (WBBL) Tournament Format
The Women's Big Bash League 2024 will see eight teams play 43 matches in a round-robin format. Each team will play 10 matches in the league stage, with each club playing the three other teams twice. The top four teams qualify for the knockout stage, including the semi-finals, with the winners progressing to the final. The tournament concludes with the final, in which the champion's trophy will be awarded.
