JioHotstar domain controversy
- The controversy over this domain started when an anonymous app developer posted a letter on https://jiohotstar.com. Through the letter, he demanded Rs 1 crore from Reliance in exchange for giving the domain.
- The developer wrote in the letter that he would give this domain to Reliance only if the company would fund him for further studies. The developer wanted to raise funds for tuition fees to study EMBA at Cambridge University.
- The developer said that Reliance's Assistant Vice President (Commercials) Ambujesh Yadav had contacted him and discussed about the domain, but he has turned down the offer. Reliance asked him to take legal action regarding the domain name.
- On Saturday, JioHotstar.com had a new landing page stating that Dubai-based siblings, Jainam and Jeevika, had purchased the domain from him to support the young software developer.
- Jainam and Jeevika also made a video about buying the domain. In this, they told that this was much less than the funds needed by the app developer, but we wanted to help him so we bought the domain.

Jainam and Jeevika have a YouTube channel where they create DIY content about toys and games. They also have an NGO registered in their name - Jainam Jeevika Foundation. The directors of the foundation are Kantilal Shankarlal Jain and Shobha Kantilal Jain.
