Announcing this historic decision, the ICC said that a total prize pool of US $ 7,958,080 (about Rs 66 crore 30 lakh) has been kept for the tournament, which is more than double the last time i.e. 2023 Women's T20 World Cup.

Women's T20 World Cup 2024 winner Prize Money: Now the team that wins the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup title will be given 2.34 million US dollars (about Rs 20 crore). At the same time, the Australia team that won the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup was given a prize of only 1 million US dollars (about Rs 8.5 crore). This time i.e. in 2024, the winning team will get 134 percent more prize money.

Women's T20 World Cup 2024 runner-up Prize Money: At the same time, the runner-up team will be given 1.17 million US dollars (about Rs 10 crore). The runner-up team will also get 134 percent more money than last time. Apart from this, the prize money given to the rest of the teams has also increased.

While announcing the prize money, the ICC said, "The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will be the first ICC event where women will get equal prize money as men, which is an important achievement in the history of the game."

When will the tournament start?

The 2024 Women's T20 World Cup will start from October 03, while the final match will be played on October 20. A total of 20 league matches will be played in the tournament. Apart from this, there will be two semi-finals and a final. The tournament will be played in the UAE, which was earlier to be played in Bangladesh. Due to the bad situation in Bangladesh, the ICC shifted the tournament to the UAE.

Decision taken at ICC Annual Conference

This decision was taken at the ICC Annual Conference in July 2023, when the ICC Board decided to equalise the prize money seven years ahead of the target date of 2030. Cricket thus becomes the first major sport to have equal prize money for men and women in the World Cup.
