The whole country is shocked by the incident of rape and subsequent murder of a female trainee doctor in West Bengal. Meanwhile, at midnight on Wednesday (August 14, 2024), some miscreants broke into RG Medical College and broke whatever they found, including medical equipment, doors, and windows, and went on for about an hour. Regarding this, the nurse of the college has claimed that the people who entered the college and created a ruckus were trying to enter the seminar room, where this incident took place.

According to a report by India Today, the nurse has alleged that two policemen asked the nurses to hide her during the mob violence. In the late-night attack, people carrying sticks and rods vandalized the emergency ward and a part of the OPD of the hospital. The police post in the hospital was also vandalized and vehicles were also damaged. Police have arrested 9 people for violence in the hospital.

Police said, 'A group of about 40 people entered the hospital premises as protesters, damaged property and pelted stones at policemen, following which policemen had to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.'

One of the doctors protesting at the hospital alleged that he was also beaten up by the protesters. He said, 'Such an incident was an attempt to break our morale so that we back off from the protest but such incidents have strengthened our resolve to fight till the end. He alleged that the vandalism was carried out despite the presence of police personnel.'
