Bajaj Auto launched the world's first CNG bike 'Bajaj Freedom 125' on Friday, July 5. There are two fuel options to run the bike, i.e., a 2-liter petrol tank and a 2-kg CNG tank. Filling both once will give a mileage of 330 km.
The rider can switch from CNG to petrol and petrol to CNG with a single button. Its price is between 95,000 to 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Booking of the bike has started. Delivery will start first in Maharashtra and Gujarat. It will be available phase wise in the rest of the states.
Bajaj Freedom CNG bike comes in three variants. More than 11 safety tests of the bike have been done. The tank did not leak even after coming under a 10-tonne loaded truck. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari claimed that the cost of running a CNG two-wheeler will be around Rs 1 per kilometer.
Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Mileage
The CNG tank weighs 18 kg when fully filled with gas. The company claims that it gives a mileage of 102 km per kg on CNG and 65 km per liter on petrol. Bajaj will export it to Egypt, Tanzania, Colombia, Peru, Bangladesh and Indonesia.
Bajaj Freedom has a 125cc single-cylinder engine, which generates 9.5 PS of power and 9.7Nm of peak torque. This engine can run on both petrol and CNG.

Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj said, 'The company will target customers worried about rising operating costs with CNG models. Bajaj says, We will create a portfolio of CNG bikes, which will include 100cc, 125cc and 150-160cc bikes.
