The T20 format has always been brutal for bowlers. Historically, in T20 Internationals, bowlers have often faced the challenge of containing aggressive batsmen who try to score runs quickly and aggressively, especially in the death overs. Despite their best efforts, some bowlers have had to endure particularly expensive overs. In the meantime, we take a look at the five most expensive overs bowled in T20 International history.

Zimbabwe Ryan Burl rescued his team in the series decider by dismissing Bangladesh's Nasum Ahmed for 34 runs in the 15th over of the first innings. From 67/6, Burl changed gears to take Zimbabwe to a competitive score and Nasum became his favorite target. Ryan Burl scored 34 runs off Nasum Ahmed's bowling in the 15th over by hitting four sixes, a four and then a six. Thanks to Burl's stormy batting, Zimbabwe scored 156 runs and won the match by 10 runs to beat Bangladesh in the three-match series.
4. Nicholas Pooran
The T20 World Cup 2024 saw some low scoring in the group stage, but in the third match played in St Lucia, West Indies scored 92 runs in the first six overs against Afghanistan, the highest powerplay score in a men's T20 World Cup. Nicholas Pooran played a brilliant game in the second over of Azmatullah Umarzai and conceded 36 runs.
3. Dipendra Singh Airee
Nepal player Dipendra Singh Airee replicated Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard's iconic moment by hitting sixes in an over and scoring an unbeaten 64* against Qatar's Kamran Khan in the 2024 ACC Men's T20 Cup match. In a T20 International match in 2021, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard created history in an over against Sri Lanka's Akila Dhananjaya. After Akila Dhananjaya took a hat-trick in the very first over, Pollard scored 38 runs off his 11 balls and West Indies achieved the target of 132 runs in the 14th over.
