Indian players are currently showing their strength in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Right after IPL, the Indian team also has to play T20 World Cup 2024 in June. In such a situation, IPL is the only tournament for the players, where they can showcase their talent and make a place in the World Cup team. The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also keeping a close eye on the performance of the players in the IPL. But the thing to be seen here is that there are 5 wicketkeepers contenders for selection in the Indian team.
1. Sanju Samson
Rajasthan team captain Sanju Samson bat is also making a lot of noise in this IPL. He has played 7 matches so far, in which he has scored 264 runs in 6 innings at an average of 66. During this period Sanju scored 3 half-centuries. His best score has been 82 runs not out. If seen this way, Sanju can be a contender.
2. Dinesh Karthik
38 year old Dinesh Karthik has wreaked havoc with his bat. In the last match, he played an inning of 83 runs in 35 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Earlier, Karthik had played a stormy inning of 53 runs in 23 balls against Mumbai. However, on both the occasions he could not lead his team to victory. So far, Karthik has scored 226 runs in 6 innings of 7 matches at an average of 75.33. If Karthik gets a place in the World Cup team, he can play the role of an excellent finisher.
3. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant, who was a victim of a car accident on 30 December 2022, has now returned fit. He is also doing wicketkeeping. He has played 6 matches in IPL so far, in which he has scored 194 runs at an average of 32.33. During this period, Pant has scored 2 half-centuries. His strike rate has also been 157.72. So Bo can also prove to be a contender for wicketkeeper in the World Cup.
4. KL Rahul
Like every time, in this season too, LSG team captain and wicketkeeper KL Rahul is batting very well. He has played 6 matches so far, in which he has scored 204 runs at an average of 34. During this period, Rahul has scored one half-century. His strike rate has been 138.77. For this reason Rahul's claim seems a little weak.
5. Ishaan Kishan
Ishan Kishan's claim also looks weak in front of Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant. Till now in IPL, Ishaan's bat has not been such that he can beat Pant and Sanju. Mumbai opener Ishaan has played 6 matches so far, in which he has scored 184 runs at an average of 30.66. His strike rate has also been 178.64. Ishaan has been able to score only one half-century so far.
