England opener Alex Hales retired from international cricket on Friday. He is the first batsman to score a century for England in T20 International.

34-year-old Alex Hales wrote, 'Please note that I have decided to retire from international cricket. It was a privilege to represent my country 156 times in all three formats. I have made some memories and friendships to last a lifetime and I feel now is the right time to move on.'

Hales says, 'I saw ups and downs while playing for England. It has been an incredible journey and I feel satisfied that my last game for England was the World Cup final. I have always had immense support from my friends, family fans in this journey of ups and downs. Hales' last game was the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan. Hales said he would continue to play domestic cricket for Nottinghamshire as well as franchise cricket.

Played an important role for England in T20 World Cup 2022

England opener Alex Hales retired, Alex Hales performed brilliantly during the T20 World Cup 2022 played in Australia. In the semi-final match against India, Hales scored an unbeaten 86 off just 47 balls. India had to face a humiliating defeat by 10 wickets in that match. Although Hales (1 run) did not bat in the final, his team was successful in winning the title by defeating Pakistan by five wickets.

Alex Hales international cricket career

Alex Hales played 11 Tests, 70 ODIs, and 75 T20 Internationals for England. In Test cricket, he scored 573 runs at an average of 27.28, including five half-centuries. In One Day Internationals, Hales has 2,419 runs at an average of 37.79. Hales scored 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries in One Day Internationals. Hales' record in T20 International was good. Hales scored 2,074 runs in T20 Internationals at an average of 30.95, including one century and 12 half-centuries.
