The BCCI approved the participation of men's and women's teams in the Apex Council meeting. The Asian Games will be held from 23 September to 8 October. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the players participating in the World Cup will not go to these games. In such a situation, it has become clear that veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya will not go to China.
Apart from Rohit, Kohli and Hardik, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul, fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will also not be selected in the men's Indian cricket team for the Asian Games. It is believed that these players will play in the World Cup. "The BCCI will send both men's and women's teams to the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou in September 2023," Jay Shah said after the 19th Apex Council meeting in Mumbai on Friday. Due to the scheduling conflict, the players who will play in the World Cup will not be selected.

BCCI will announce the 15-member squad for the World Cup. There will be three official reserve players. In such a situation, India's men's team for the Asian Games will not include 18 cricketers selected for the ODI World Cup. Earlier it was reported that the Indian team for the Asian Games is likely to be led by Shikhar Dhawan. It is difficult for Dhawan to be selected in the World Cup team. Other rising youngsters like Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Rituraj Gaikwad may get a chance to make their debut for India at the Asian Games. Cricket in Asian Games will be played in T20 format.

BCCI announced 5 major decisions
- BCCI will send men's and women's teams to the Asian Games.
- BCCI will frame a policy for its players (including retired players) regarding their participation in overseas T20 leagues.
- The BCCI will continue with the impact player rule in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season ahead. Teams will have to select their playing XI with 4 substitute players before the toss. Teams may use an Impact Player at any time during the match. In the last season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a team could only use an impact player before the 14th over of the innings.
- The BCCI has allowed two bouncers per over in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to balance the competition between bat and ball.
- BCCI will upgrade stadiums in the country. For this work will be done in two phases. In the first phase, the grounds for the World Cup 2023 will be upgraded. After this, other grounds of the country will be upgraded in the second phase.
