Why Pakistan is not playing Men's Hockey world cup
Pakistan, the four-time Mens Hockey World Cup champion, will not be able to participate in the Mens Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held in India. The reason behind this is surprising. The Pakistan mens hockey team will not feature in the upcoming edition of the Mens Hockey World Cup to be held in India. The reason for this is Pakistans failure to make it to the top four in the Mens Hockey Asia Cup 2022.
Pakistan was placed in Group B at the Mens Hockey Asia Cup 2022 along with Japan, India and hosts Indonesia. Pakistan started their tournament with a 1–1 draw against India. Then he defeated Indonesia by a huge margin of 13-0.
However, Pakistan were defeated 2–3 by Japan in the final of the group stage. So while India defeated Indonesia by a margin of 16-0, Pakistan were knocked out of the Mens Hockey Asia Cup 2022 by goal difference. As a result, Pakistan failed to qualify for the Mens Hockey World Cup for only the second time in history.
