Indian Premier League is considered one of the biggest leagues in the cricket world. When IPL started in 2008 with eight teams it was believed that this will be a normal league as Twenty20 Big Bash, which took place from 2005-6 to 2011-12. But no one would have thought how much popularity and class this league will earn. Nowadays IPL is the toughest cricket league in the world. Started with eight teams now the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League in 2022 has 10 teams. Two new teams have been added in IPL 2022 Lucknow Super Giants and Gujrat Titans named after cities Lucknow and Ahemdabad respectively.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on March 26. As many as 10 teams will battle it out for the ultimate glory over the course of two months with the final set to be played on May 29. With only just three weeks to go, the BCCI announced the schedule for the much-awaited tournament and the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opener.
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan became the most expensive player in the mega auction of IPL 2022. Notably, Kishan has become the second-highest-paid Indian player in IPL auction history after former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Before every IPL season, some star players decide to pull out of the league for their own reasons. This season will also miss some of the IPL legends who have decided not to be a part of the IPL league.
1. Alex Hales
England opener Alex Hales withdrew from the IPL 2022 season. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) setup after being bought for INR 1.20 crores in the mega auction.
REASON: Hales played in the Big Bash League (BBL) where he ended up contracting covid-19. Since then, he has been in extremely severe bio-bubbles and he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to make it through another extended period inside an isolated camp.
“I am sad to announce that I have made the extremely difficult decision to withdraw from the forthcoming IPL. Having spent the last four months away from home in restrictive bio-bubbles and testing position for Covid myself, I don’t feel as though I can commit myself to another extended period in a secure environment,” Hales said in a statement on his Twitter account.
Do they have a replacement?Yes KKR has signed Australia's T20 World Cup-winning team, captain Aaron Finch will be part of the Indian Premier League 2022 in place of England's Alex Hales.

2. Mark Wood

Mark Wood was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a fee of INR 7.50 crore.
England fast bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out from taking part in the IPL 2022 for the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants following an injury to his right elbow, which he sustained during the first Test against West Indies in North Sound last week.
Lucknow Super Giants team received a medical update from the England Cricket Board on Friday. Mark Wood has been ruled out of the second Test against West Indies in Barbados has been replaced by Saqib Mahmood. Meanwhile, the Lucknow franchise is yet to find a replacement for him.
REASON: Injury in Right elbow – According to a report, the England and Wales Cricket Board has informed the franchise of Wood’s unavailability for the entirety of the season.

3. Jason Roy

Indian Premier League (IPL) side Gujarat Titans have reportedly suffered a setback ahead of the upcoming season, as England opener Jason Roy has pulled out of the tournament “citing the challenge of staying in the tournament bubble for an extended period”
Gujarat Titans had bought the batter for his base price of Rs 2 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega auction.
This is the second time Roy has decided not to play the IPL after finding a team at the auction. In 2020, Delhi Capitals picked up Roy for his then base price of Rs 1.5 crore but he opted out for personal reasons.
REASON: The reason for his unavailability is the extended bio-bubble stay, which would have kept him away from his family, which includes his newborn baby
