LSG appoints Bharat Arun as new bowling coach ahead of IPL 2026

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has been appointed as the bowling coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). IANS had reported on Wednesday that Arun is set to join LSG after completing a four-year stint at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

LSG appoints new bowling coach ahead of IPL 2026

It is an honour for me to join Lucknow Super Giants, a franchise that exudes professionalism, ambition and vision at every level. My conversations with Dr. Sanjiv Goenka and the management have been extremely encouraging - there is a clear intent to invest in young Indian talent and build a long-term legacy, Arun said in a statement released by the franchise. Arun joined KKR ahead of the 2022 season, where he was a member of the franchise's 2024 IPL-winning team. He has worked with the Indian team twice as a bowling coach - from 2014 to 2015, and from 2017 to the 2021 T20 World Cup, where he played a key role in shaping the fast bowling revolution in the men's team.

Bharat Arun now joins the LSG coaching set-up, which currently comprises mentor Zaheer Khan, head coach Justin Langer and assistant coach Lance Klusener. “What excites me most is the long-term development outlook. LSG has invested in a young, talented and dynamic group of Indian fast bowlers — Akashdeep, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Mohsin Khan and Akash Singh — and I see immense potential in each of them.

Bharat Arun Cricket Career

Arun, who has played two Tests and four ODIs for India, said, "My goal is to mold them into a cohesive, fearless and strategically dynamic team that can challenge the best batting order in the world." Arun was part of the Indian team that won the Men's Under-19 World Cup in Australia in 2012 and has also coached Tamil Nadu, Bengal and Hyderabad teams in domestic cricket. Arun was also the bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL from 2015 to 2017. Pakistan reached the final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025

Pakistan has reached the final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), a tournament for retired cricketers. WCL gave this information late on Wednesday night. India had refused to play the semi-final match with Pakistan. This match was to be played in Birmingham on 31 July.

Earlier, Indian players were unable to play the group match with Pakistan on 20 July. Then the match was canceled and the points were divided between the two teams. But now the Pakistani team has reached the final by topping its group and gaining nine points with four wins.

India finished fourth in this tournament of six teams. The team won one match and lost three, while one match was inconclusive. Pakistan will face the winner of the second semi-final (Australia or South Africa).

What WCL said

The league's sponsor company EzMyTrip also announced its withdrawal from the semi-final match on Wednesday. The company's co-founder Nishant Pitti wrote in a post - We appreciate India's great performance in the WCL. However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is no ordinary match. Terrorism and cricket cannot go together.

EzMyTrip stands with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalize relations with a country that promotes terrorism. Some things are bigger than sports. Country first, business later.

Protest against India-Pakistan match in Asia Cup

Ever since the schedule of Asia Cup 2025 was released on July 26, there has been a protest on social media regarding the India-Pakistan match. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, people are saying that we should not play with the country from where terrorism flourishes.

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has not yet given any official statement on this. India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group in the Asia Cup. The match between the two is to be played on September 14. Apart from this, the Indian women's team will play a match with Pakistan in the ICC Women's World Cup in Colombo on October 6.

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. He performed well, scoring 354 runs in 14 matches. Venkatesh Iyer was bought by KKR for ₹23.75 crore, but he could not show any special performance. Iyer scored only 142 runs at an average of around 21 in the 2025 season.
