Lord Shiva's Shivlinga is situated in the Amarnath cave at an altitude of 3978 meters above sea level. The holy cave is 90 feet long and 150 feet high. It is believed that a drop of water drips in the cave, which forms the Shivlinga. The size of the Shivlinga made of ice changes with the rise and set of the moon and the Shivlinga gradually becomes smaller by Amavasya.
